West Yorkshire
Wood burning stoves and fireplaces across Ilkley and Wharfedale.
Installation in Ilkley
Ilkley is a classic Wharfedale spa town of substantial Victorian and Edwardian stone villas, along with newer family homes, set beneath the moor. These are properties that suit a stove or a designed fireplace as a real focal point, whether that means lining a period chimney or building a clean contemporary installation into a modernised room.
Nearby at Menston we fitted an ACR Woodpecker 5 Plus multi-fuel stove with a natural limestone fireplace and a matt black granite hearth, a warm, characterful centrepiece for the room. We cover Ilkley, Ben Rhydding, Burley in Wharfedale, Addingham and Menston toward Guiseley.
Where cleaner-burning or smoke-control questions matter, we specify Ecodesign-ready, energy-efficient stoves where appropriate and explain the rules in our DEFRA and smoke control guide.

made to measure hearths in IlkleyLocal knowledge
Ilkley’s Victorian and Edwardian stone villas were built with fine fireplaces, and much of our work here is bringing them back: opening up a boarded-over chimney breast, lining the flue, and pairing the stove with a surround that suits the room. At Menston, just down the valley, we set an ACR Woodpecker 5 Plus into a natural limestone fireplace on a matt black granite hearth, the kind of pairing these houses were made for.
Wharfedale weather earns its reputation, and homes on the higher, exposed sides of the valley often struggle with downdraught when the wind comes off the moor. The cure is usually an oversized, unlined flue put right: a correctly sized liner and the right anti-downdraught cowl, specified after we have seen the chimney and the site rather than guessed from a photograph.
Many customers here also want the flexibility of multi-fuel, burning logs most of the time with smokeless fuel in reserve for long cold snaps. And in renovated and open-plan homes without a usable flue route, a designed media wall with an inset electric fire gives the focal point with none of the building work.

Ilkley questions
Yes. We supply and fit Ilkley stoves as complete installations, with the appliance, hearth, chamber or surround, flue or liner and HETAS certificate all handled through one survey-led job.
Usually, yes. Downdraught on exposed Wharfedale sites is nearly always an oversized, unlined flue with the wrong terminal on top. A correctly sized liner and an anti-downdraught cowl, specified after a proper look at the chimney, transforms the draw.
Yes, it is some of our favourite work. We open up the chimney breast, line the flue, and build the surround and hearth to suit the room, in limestone, granite or stone. The Menston install shown above is a good example of the finish.
Plenty of customers looking for wood burning stoves Ilkley-wide choose multi-fuel for the flexibility: logs most of the time, smokeless fuel held in reserve for the coldest weeks. A dedicated woodburner burns a little cleaner. We talk through how you will actually use it on the survey.
Yes, the whole valley. Ben Rhydding, Burley in Wharfedale, Addingham, Menston, Guiseley, Otley and the smaller Wharfedale villages are regular territory, and we are through Wharfedale most weeks.
A straightforward supply and fit typically runs from around £1,800 to £3,000, and lining the chimney, which most period Ilkley homes need, usually lands between £2,500 and £4,500. One clear written price after the free home survey.
