Crafted from genuine stone, each fireplace is unique, with subtle variations in colour, texture and fossil markings that reflect the beauty of this natural material. Whether you're creating a traditional focal point or complementing a contemporary interior, natural limestone offers exceptional durability, versatility and understated luxury. Expertly designed and handcrafted, our stone fireplaces can be made to suit your room perfectly and paired with wood-burning stoves, gas fires or electric fires to create a feature you'll enjoy for years to come.

The stones

Some of the stones we use most

Below is a selection of swatches showcasing some of the most popular stones we use for our fireplaces. While these are among our customers' favourites, the range is by no means exhaustive. We also offer a wide variety of other materials, including natural marble and the latest porcelain surfaces, allowing you to create a fireplace that perfectly suits your individual style and home interior.

The bespoke collection

When the room needs something of its own

The fireplaces above are our own designs, made to measure for your room. Alongside them we run a separate bespoke collection, where the fireplace is designed from scratch around the architecture, proportions and character of one particular house.

That is the work behind pieces like the Provence near Ripon, with its hand carved Yorkshire Rose in relief, and the Goathland, whose rounded profile turns a 90 degree corner in solid Yorkshire sandstone. Fitted prices for the bespoke collection are published in full.

Common questions

Stone fireplaces, answered plainly

What stone do you use for fireplaces?

A range of natural stones including limestone, marble, granite, sandstone and slate, as well as the latest porcelain surfaces. Our surveyors carry samples so you can compare materials in your own home and light.

Can a stone fireplace be made to measure?

Yes. Each one is handcrafted to order and can be made to your exact dimensions, with the hearth precision cut and shaped to suit your chimney breast, flooring or chosen stove.

Does a stone fireplace work with a wood burning stove?

Yes. We fit an Antique Leather granite hearth and border slips that form a durable heat barrier between the stove and the surround, and confirm the correct clearances on the home survey.

How do I choose between limestone, marble and granite?

Limestone is calm and traditional, marble brings more pattern and formality, and granite is hard-wearing for hearths and sharper contemporary details. We compare samples in your room before recommending a finish.

How do I care for a stone fireplace?

Use a soft cloth and mild cleaning products, and avoid acidic cleaners on natural stone. We explain the right care for the material you choose, because limestone, marble, granite, sandstone and slate do not all behave in the same way.
