Complete fireplace fitting: openings, chambers, hearths, beams and surrounds, finished around the proportions of the room rather than dropped in to a template. Often built to frame a woodburning stove as the centre of the space.
The approach
A focal point, not a fitting
A fireplace sets the tone of a room, so it is worth getting the proportions right. Chris looks at the opening, the chimney and the way the room is used, then helps you choose a surround, beam and hearth that sit well together. Samples come to you so you can see the materials in your own light.
Carl carries out the building and finishing work, from opening up or forming a chamber to fitting the surround and making good around it. Where a stove is going in, the fireplace and the flue are planned as one job so the finish is clean and the draw is right.

Common questions
Fireplaces, answered plainly
Can you build a fireplace around a stove?
Yes. A lot of our work is exactly that: a chamber, hearth and beam built to frame a woodburner so it sits as the focal point of the room. We handle the fireplace and the stove together as one fit.
Do you supply the surround or can I source my own?
Either works. Chris brings samples and can supply the surround, beam and hearth, or fit a piece you have chosen. He will tell you honestly if something will not work with the chimney or the proportions of the room.
Will it suit an older property?
That is a lot of what we do across North Yorkshire. We work with the existing opening and chimney, open up or reline where needed and finish it so it looks right for the age of the house.
