Installation in Bedale
Bedale is a Georgian market town of characterful stone homes, old farmhouses and converted rural buildings, the kind of properties where a woodburner belongs at the heart of the room. Many of these homes have an original chimney worth lining, while barns and outbuildings brought into use often need a twin-wall flue fitting from scratch, sized so the stove draws cleanly.
This is an area we know well. Just outside Bedale we completed a bespoke Dik Geurts Oval hanging stove in a converted chapel, suspended from the structure as a genuine centrepiece, exactly the kind of specialist work we enjoy. We cover Bedale, Aiskew and the villages of Crakehall, Patrick Brompton, Snape and Well.
Where cleaner-burning or smoke-control questions matter, we specify Ecodesign-ready, energy-efficient stoves where appropriate and explain the rules in our DEFRA and smoke control guide.
Local knowledge
Bedale’s Georgian townhouses and the farmhouses around it often hide the best fireplaces in the district: wide inglenooks with big old flues that have never seen a liner. We open them up, fit a correctly sized stainless liner with a register plate, and finish the chamber in brick or stone with an oak beam over the opening. Done right, the inglenook becomes the warmest seat in the house instead of a draughty hole.
The other half of our Bedale work is conversions. Barns, outbuildings and, in one case we are especially proud of, a chapel, where we suspended a Dik Geurts Oval hanging stove from the original structure as the centrepiece of the room. Buildings like these usually have no usable chimney, so we design a twin-wall insulated flue from scratch, engineered around the building rather than forced through it.
Out here the stove is often the main heat source rather than a luxury, working hard from October to April. For heavy use we usually recommend the higher grade 904 liner over the standard 316, because it stands up far better to the condensates a hard-working stove produces. The difference is explained in our chimney liner guide, and a yearly service and sweep keeps everything safe and efficient.

Bedale questions
Yes. Middleham, Leyburn and the villages west of Bedale are on the same dales-edge run. Stoves in these homes are usually about honest room sizing, exposed chimneys and a flue specification that suits harder winter use.
Yes. We fitted a suspended Dik Geurts Oval as the centrepiece of a converted chapel near Bedale, with the flue and support engineered around the original structure. It is specialist work, and exactly the kind of installation we enjoy most.
Yes. We design a twin-wall insulated flue for the building, routed internally through the roof or up an outside wall, sized so the stove draws cleanly. Every system is specified for the property, from the brackets to the cowl.
Open it up properly, line the flue, fit a register plate, and finish the chamber in brick or stone with a beam over the opening. The stove is then sized to the room, not the opening, so it heats well instead of roaring away wastefully.
For a stove that runs hard all winter we usually recommend a 904 grade liner over the standard 316. It resists the acidic condensates of heavy use far better and lasts longer, which makes it the sensible buy for a main heat source.
A straightforward supply and fit typically runs from around £1,800 to £3,000, chimney lining jobs usually land between £2,500 and £4,500, and a full twin-wall system for a conversion starts from around £3,500. One written price after the free survey.
